Tanushree Dutta, in the news recently for her pow-wow with Nana Patekar is afraid to admit that she is…afraid! “I’m afraid that I’m afraid, ” she says with a nervous laugh.
“That’s why I’ve been talking against Nana Patekar and Rakhi Sawant long after she took over the item song from me with him. I feel upset and frightened….The MNS workers were put on the job to harass me after I dared to take on Nana for his behaviour.”
I tell her it’s in bad taste to carry on her tirade against a senior artiste, no matter what the provocation. Tanushree agrees.
“Maybe I should’ve stopped talking about it. But I did so only out of fear. I’m a girl from Bihar. I’m seen as an outsider in Mumbai, and I was reminded about it by a very senior member of the film industry recently. When I told him I felt threatened he turned around to ask, ‘Who do you think you are, Amitabh Bachchan?’
Tanushree admits she made those uncharitable comments about Rakhi Sawant being signed on because the producers wanted to have a bit of ‘fun’.
“I’ve been upset and I must’ve said it. They wanted Rakhi for the item song in the first place. They brought me in because they wanted to make it different. They should’ve gone ahead with her, ” says Tanushree who plays a super-heroine in Ramaa-The Saviour with wrestler Khalli.
Rakhi Sawant and her ‘Chillar Party’ won the Yeh Hai Jalwa dance reality TV show on 9X by defeating the other two finalists, Ronit Roy and Hussain Kuwajerwala. And thank god for that! We have been saved another round of Rakhi cribbing and hurling insults at the winners and the channel and the organisers and any other person remotely responsible for the show, the way she did after losing out to Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh in Nach Baliye 3.

Television and Bollywood stars walked down the red carpet at Sansui Television Awards 2008. Rohit Roy, Ronit Roy, Roshni Chopra, Juhi Parmar sizzled the stage with their rocking performances. While Rakhi Sawant set the stage on fire by grooving to the latest Krazzy 4 track. Sharad Kelkar, Rajshri Vaidya, Tina and Hussain kept the audience enthralled with their novel acts.
Dia Mirza and Viveik Oberoi were among the bollywood celebs to perform at the show.
The Sansui Television Awards for the Best Actor and Actress was won by the Kasamh Se duo Ram Kapoor and Prachi Desai. Jeetendra was awarded the Sansui Television Lifetime Achievement award.
Apart from small screen actors, many bollywood celebs were also seen at The Global Indian TV Honors Red Carpet, held at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, on Friday Night. To name few were Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Rakhi Sawant, Preeti Jhangiani, Sunil Shetty etc.
